Citrify: Photoshop alternative to edit & enhance photo’s online
Have you been looking for a platform that would help keep your photo editing simple and yet have fun? Chances are that you would stumble upon a curiously named web app that lures you toward some fascinating delicacies on the tool menu. Christened Citrify, it does fascinate. Indeed!
We already have Photoshop and Picnik and what not, you tend to ask. The two people behind Citrify have an answer to your queries in case you wanted one. Unlike the peers and the fore runners, Citrify would not ask you to sign up before you try the features out there. No user account needed, and no need to upload images too. Citrify has empowered its software inside to open and save photos right from your computer all by itself.
Photo editing skills lie in the artistic mind of the editor, you thought. Citrify takes the adage a wee bit further and makes it sound like there can be no better editor than you when you use the features listed over there. You can whiten teeth, remove pimples, iron out the wrinkles, or even play around with your images stored in your PC. As the people out there would tell you, Citrify is a fresh little web app that can make your photos look better. The tools can be put to good use to make your photos funkier too.
Currently offered free for enthusiasts, this web-based photo editor looks like worth a try. May be the two brains behind the project would look at making some money via photo prints later on when Citrify bag a few dedicated customers. Zee Yang and Tali Weissberger, who are behind this “fresh little web app”, are also offering Citrify as a white-label product. It works thus: In exchange for an upfront license fee and on-going support fee, they customize the software for the customer.
A Citrify test drive, in fact, would take you to some unseen by-lanes where editing skills get a high five. We found our photos transform themselves to being naturally beautiful minus the glare and the wrinkles. One use of the tools provided would make red-eye and blemishes vanish into thin air. We were looking to make that complexion look satin. Lo and behold, we found the photo on our PC resemble some cutie right out of tinsel town! Air brush effects to eye poppers, pencil sketches to Hulk effects and Obamification and what not. Citrify has on array any tool you want to use to any effect. Most importantly, the highly polished user interface has everything in it to make you feel elated. We just loved it when we really encountered no bulky software to install or update whatsoever. You would too.
Available whenever you need it, minus any complicated layers or albums, Citrify can be your choice for editing pictures on your PC and on the Web. Just click open your photo, touch-up, apply effects with a few clicks, and you are done.
Yang and Tali have made the app run on Adobe Flash – the Pixel Bender kernel in Flash 10 to be precise. We might soon see the app hop on to HTML5 Canvas too. So, in case you still have doubts, Citrify can be put to good use wherever Flash is supported. This means it can work on Mac OS X, Windows XP, Vista, 7, and Linux. The aim of the two-people team operating out of Ottawa in Canada to bring to customers the best photo-editing software on the web seems to be getting real with Citrify. A quick demo (http://app.citrify.com/tutorial/) would tell you more about Citrify. We give the venture a thumbs-up. Haven’t you started Citrifying your photos as yet? Go for it. Have fun, while keeping it simple.

This is a novel approach. Light on the system, can edit photos anywhere in privacy. Built-in expertise, yet enjoyable and fun. I want this!

I agree with this. I happen to be spending a lot of time educating myself about photoshop. I found a lot of answers at 10bomb.com
