The SimpleGeo build the applications much more faster and also adds Augmented Reality with the SDK. The Venture firm, First Round Capital has led the Series A funding round for the start-up SimpleGeo, buzzed-about the new company that has built a product for an easy integration of the “location” features into the Web and the mobile apps according to the multiple sources that are familiar with the deal. Also contributing to this round, the sources say that Redpoint Ventures, Freestyle Capital and many of the usual suspects from the Silicon Valley’s merry band of angel investors- among them are Ron Conway, Digg founder Kevin Rose, ex-Googler Chris Sacca, an ubiquitous personality Gary Vaynerchuk, and Delicious founder Joshua Schachter. But it isn’t still exactly known how much money was raised but one source says it’s just a “small” amount probably in the low seven figures.

The SimpleGeo’s co-founder, Matt Galligan declined to comment on the above statement but later on he said that the company was working on closing a round. Some background on the SimpleGeo is that the company is based in Boulder, Colo. and co-founded by Galligan and the former Digg engineer Joe Stump. They initially planned to make a location-aware augment reality games. When they found out how tough it was to make each game from the scratch, they re-focused the company on making a set of location-aware features for the clients. They sell this in mainly three versions that are ranging from free to about $2,499/month.

The location-aware market still continues to heat up with the game-like services such as Foursquare and the Gowalla poking into the mainstream including the first appearance of the Twitter’s geolocation feature that is provided in the latest version of the iPhone client Tweetie. Once the Twitter members turn that ON, their messages can be tagged along with the exact location from which they were broadcasted.
