To start with this, all you got to follow is four main steps. Firstly, select a city from around the world. Secondly, make a building with the photos that are provided. Thirdly, save your building and it can be reviewed. Finally, you can see your 3D building in the Google Earth! What more, people from all over the world will be able to see your model in the Google Earth. The Google [GOOG] created the Google Building Maker.

You can become part of the world-wide team by using this software that creates a virtual planet a single building at-a-time. But you wont be paid for creating these buildings. Its meant for people who wants to create something cool out of passion.
To get this software, you have to load up the Google Building Maker page and then click the download button to download a 3D plugin, the load is right up in your browser. After downloading, you will be provided with a map where you can zoom right into where you want to start your designing. The only problem found here is that not all places have good imagery. So the other options that are provided is that you will have to find a place that does or use any one of the suggested locations that the Google lists.

Once a location is selected, you will be presented with the following page where you can see eight angles from the above which helps you in aligning the buildings more easily. Now to start building, you can start picking the building shapes to work with. They can be found at the top right of the page. Firstly you will have to select a viewing angle followd by selecting a shape and then dragging the corners to match the corners of the building. Once done with this, you can pick another angle and drag the corners to get them to match up on a different axis. Then repeat this procedure for all the other angles of the image. Once done, you can pick the other objects to define the shape of the building such as a gable end and repeat the process. Although this process can be time consuming, its worth it!
