Lots of upgrading is done in the user interface design, both on the administrative side as well as on the user-facing side. We can also add, rename and delete your forums. A placeholder page for the premium upgrades is added.

Now the Vanilla 1.1.10 is released. The main changes in this release are the replacement of the deprecated functions and also updates to the scriptaculous and Prototype. At present, everyone is working on the Vanilla 2 for it’s official release.
Many CSS improvements have been done in Vanilla 2. There are lots of stylesheets for the theme designers to handle with. There was a base stylesheet for the garden application and another stylesheet for the profile page. There are other stylesheets for activity stream and every other application had its own stylesheet. This meant that, inorder to get an entire site styled, it was required that the theme designer edits up to 5 stylesheets just for the basic “Vanilla & Conversations” installation. The stylesheets are simplified and common elements are re-used throughout the applications but there were difficulties faced in creating the custom css-based themes.

Many upgrades have been brought to the Vanilla Addons Site. They include searching and browsing the addons that has been improved with the new options for sorting and filtering by the Vanilla version. The users can upload the screenshots and icons for their respective addons. Vanilla 2 addons are not marked as the Vanilla 1 addons when the new versions are uploaded. Paging works properly after the second page of results when browsing the addons. The entire addons application is made available at the GitHub.

Now anyone from the Vanilla community can get a copy of the addons application. They can enable it on their local garden installation, implement new features and send pull requests so that we can get your features into the core application much more faster and easier. And incase if you don’t want to change the core then also you can submit the plugins for the addons site.
