The Refinery is a lightweight, modular and an open source CMS application. It is built with the Ruby on Rails, and so the name! It has a slick user interface that manages a website where the new pages with unlimited sub-levels or images can be added, contact inquiries can be managed and so on.

This application offers a permission that is based on the multi-user environment where it is also possible to define which users can access to which all modules. It logs most of the actions that makes it possible to view the activities easily. The Refinery is not an application that includes all the features that are included in the CMS. It mainly includes the most-used features and thus making it a simple and a powerful application.

Till yesterday, the Content Management System was expensive, too complicated, not flexible etc. The RefineryCMS overcomes all these problems. These days most of the people run almost all their sites on the Refinery and it has become a central part of business. It is decided to release the Refinery as an open source project now. It is easy to use and powerful too and it will become more powerful only with the input of the other developers.

Built in the Ruby on Rails, the Refinery is a modular system that allows new functionalities to be built easily and connected to the base application. Every element of the Refinery is designed to be simple and thereby ensuring that the end user who is the website owner is not required to perform the tasks that are beyond their capabilities. The site owners are basically not either designers or developers. So the Refinery does not make them work hard in managing their contents but it allows them to create exactly the site they want to from the portfolio sites to ecommerce the sites to the brochure sites. The
Resolve Digital has launched a new demo site which shows the features of their content management system named as Refinery.

The CMS includes features such as 100% free and an open source. It is simple and easy to use. It has slick and a clean user interface. It is light weight, modular and also extendable. The Refinery is the most easiest way to build great websites.

Wow, I guess they’ve never heard of Drupal, Django, Joomla, WordPress, Textpattern or Expression Engine.

I’m always a little surprised when a new CMS comes out, given the plethora of mature and feature-rich systems already available. Does Refinery offer anything that other systems don’t? Enough to justify moving over to an entirely new — and unproven — system?
