fontcapture

This feature is available for free and does not require one to create an account. Moreover, it frees the users from installation of any software in their computer. However, one needs a printer and a scanner to avail this online tool. In addition to using, the default fonts available in the word document, one can use his/her handwriting as a font for their text.
One can create a font in five basic steps. At first, one has to download the template provided on the website. The template is stored in the PDF format. Hence, one would require an Acrobat Reader to download and view the file. When the download is complete, one can take the print of the same and start filling the template.
The template requires one to write all letters in the respective boxes using the given instructions. One can use a black pen to write the letters on the template. Each box to be filled is provided with markers so that you clearly know where to start a letter and where to end it. All letters must have sufficient margin in between them. Each box is provided with 3 markers, namely the baseline, the descender and the ascender. The baseline is the line on which a letter is written.
The descender mark gives you the approximate length downwards available for you to write letters like ‘g’ and ‘q’. Similarly, the ascender specifies the space available upwards from the baseline that is provided for you to complete the uppercase letters. One must write a letter within the three markers. If the letter goes beyond the 3 lines, that portion is likely to get cut off. One can skip letters like ó, ò, or ñ if one does not use then in his/her text. When you have finished filling the template, you can scan it to upload it on the website.
The scanner can be used in the gray scale or color mode at a rate of 200 DPI or higher. Prior to uploading, one must save the scanned template in the PNG or JPG format (PNG is preferred.). If the image is scanned upside down, you must ensure that you rotate it by 180 degrees using an image editor before uploading it. When the upload is completed successfully, one can preview the font and download it.
Thus, FontCapture is a free easy-to-use tool that helps one, to create, download and use one’s handwriting as a font in a few easy steps.
